Building A Connected Ecosystem For Better Service Delivery In Behavioral Health: The Whole Person Care Imperative

|

On October 8, 2024, OPEN MINDS Chief Executive Officer Monica E. Oss presented at Accelerate 2024. Health plans – and the consumers they serve – are looking for new approaches to coordinated care. These approaches need to address the challenge in health care cost management – that 10% of consumers use 70% of health care resources. And half of those consumers have a behavioral health disorder, cognitive disability, or neurological condition.

This push for β€œwhole person care” – a consumer-centric approach to their medical, behavioral, and social needs – is both a challenge and an opportunity for behavioral health provider organizations.  In the period ahead, every behavioral health organization needs an integrated care strategy – a strategy that can range from collaborative referrals and information sharing, to an integrated continuum of services.

To build this connected ecosystem for better consumer outcomes and payer value, executive teams need a technology plan that supports that integrated care strategy. In the session, Ms. Oss discussed the shifting market model, the strategy implications, and key technologies for succeeding with connected care.
