On May 31, 2023, Strive Health announced it had raised $166 million in Series C funding and plans to use the funds to expand its partnerships with commercial and Medicare Advantage payers, Medicare, health systems and physicians. The company anticipates refining its clinical value-based model and expanding into new markets within its 30-state footprint, and investing in its existing partnerships to better support the 37 million U.S. adults living with chronic kidney disease. Chris Riopelle, Co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) at Strive Health, said that the company is especially interested in expanding its existing partnerships in St. Louis, Missouri, Michigan, and Central and North Florida, in addition to those with national chains, to facilitate cost-effective kidney care.

This funding round was led by NEA alongside five new investors, including CVS Health Ventures. The round was completed by investments from all previous strategic investors: CapitalG (Alphabet), Echo Health Ventures, Town Hall Ventures, Ascension Ventures, and Redpoint.

Strive Health provides a value-based integrated kidney care model that supports consumers with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). It currently serves 80,000 consumers with CKD or ESKD across 30 states and partners with over 600 nephrology provider organizations across 10 states. Through its contracts, Strive Health manages over $2.5 billion of annual medical spending. The company partners with commercial and Medicare Advantage payors, Medicare, health systems and physicians through flexible value-based payment arrangements, including risk-based programs. Strive’s case management and population health programs are accredited by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), and its technology platform, CareMultiplier™, is certified by HITRUST.
