Optum, a diversified health services company, completed its $13 billion acquisition of Change Healthcare, which provides software and data analytics. The deal was announced in January 2021. The combination is intended to connect and simplify the core clinical, administrative, and payment processes health care provider organizations and payers use to serve consumers.
Change Healthcare provides revenue and payment cycle management that connects payers, provider organizations, and consumers in the U.S. health care system. Optum anticipates that increasing efficiency and reducing friction will benefit the entire health system, resulting in lower costs and a better experience for all stakeholders.
Optum is part of UnitedHealth Group and a sibling company to UnitedHealthcare. Optum is a leading information and technology-enabled health services business. It provides integrated solutions that help to modernize the health system and improve overall population health.
