NCQA Seeks Health Centers For HRSA-Funded PCMH Recognition & Behavioral Health Integration Program

|

By OPEN MINDS Circle

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is recruiting health centers to participate in a federal initiative supporting Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Recognition and a Behavioral Health Integration Distinction.

The opportunity is open to Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) funded by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) and to FQHC look-alikes, which meet HRSA requirements but do not receive federal funding.

The Behavioral Health Integration Distinction is available to health centers that have already achieved PCMH Recognition or are actively working toward it. The distinction is designed to support integration of behavioral health services with primary care as part of a whole-person care approach.

NCQA partners with HRSA to support health centers in achieving PCMH Recognition, an effort aimed at improving quality and efficiency. NCQA has worked with HRSA since 2010, and more than 3,200 health centers have earned PCMH Recognition. According to NCQA, the partnership has contributed to HRSA’s goal of having at least 75% of health centers achieve PCMH Recognition at one or more sites.

NCQA launched the Distinction in Behavioral Health Integration in 2017. In November 2025, the organization announced that HRSA would provide funding for the distinction for the first time, expanding access for HRSA-supported health centers.

NCQA is a private, non-profit organization that accredits and certifies health care organizations and develops performance measurement tools, including the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS).

The invitation to HRSA-funded health centers and look-alikes was announced in an April 10, 2026, LinkedIn post (accessed April 20, 2026).

The announcement about HRSA funding for the Distinction in Behavioral Health Integration NCQA Awarded New HRSA Task Order to Expand Access to Patient-Centered and Behavioral Health Care was released November 5, 2025 (accessed April 20, 2026).

More information about HRSA support for NCQA PCMH Recognition and how health centers can submit a notice of intent to HRSA is posted online (accessed April 20, 2026).
