Pear Therapeutics, Inc. (Pear) announced that its PearConnect™ platform is now available to health care professionals through the Epic App Orchard Gallery. Health care provider organizations will be able to access the PearConnect platform within Epic’s electronic health record (EHR) to remotely monitor consumers prescribed Pear’s prescription digital therapeutics (PDTs). Initially, remote monitoring through the Epic EHR will be available for Pear’s FDA-authorized PDTs reSET® and reSET-O® for the treatment of addiction disorder and opioid use disorder, respectively.
By listing the PearConnect platform in the Epic App Orchard, Pear anticipates simplifying access for clinical professionals to monitor consumers prescribed PDTs. Within the Epic EHR, clinical professionals will be able to view consumer-generated data such as lesson progress, cravings, and triggers, which can be used to guide treatment. This monitoring includes progress review and documenting interactions, such as remote therapeutic monitoring, that qualify for available Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes.
Pear Therapeutics develops and markets PDTs for multiple therapeutic areas. Three of its PDTs have been authorized by the FDA for commercial use: reSET® and reSET-O®, and Somryst®, a treatment for chronic insomnia. The PDTs are designed to engage consumers in treatment and to provide tracking tools for clinical professionals. The PDTs also collect data for use by prescribing clinical professionals and for population health management by payers and health systems.
Pear’s platform is designed to be scalable with the ability to host multiple PDTs developed by Pear and potentially by third parties. Pear’s development platform, PearCreate™, is aimed toward the development of PDT candidates, and Pear’s commercial platform, PearConnect™, is aimed toward the commercialization of PDT products.
